AFDDs protect your Consumer Unit from arc faults, at CWS our ELUCIAN AFDD CU1AFDD16B is designed to be more sensitive than regular circuit protection. Protection is enhanced by the unit monitoring the waveform of electricity in use and detects unusual signatures that may then form an arc. If the unit detects an arc, power to this circuit is cut off and reduces the threat of fire.

With amendment 2 of the 18th Edition, AFDD's become the smart way to detect arc faults in the circuits of your home or business. The amendment recommends AFDD's are installed in ciruits supplying socket outlets in the following 4 areas:

High Risk Residential Buildings (18m or 6 Storeys +)
Houses of Multiple Occupancy HMO
Student Accommodation
Care Homes

Within certain types of premises protection against arc faults is mandatory for final circuits rated up to 32A supplying socket outlets. For all other premises, the use of AFDDs on final circuits rated up to 32A supplying socket outlets is recommended.
